Artwork 1:
I used childhood nostalgia as the overarching theme for my artwork. I prioritised the idea of “longing,” to “take solace in memories of a simpler period.” I wished I could be “transported back to my childhood.” I tried to convey this need in my paintings. With its muted background and brightly coloured toys scattered over the bedroom, Piece #1 effectively portrays the idea of “rummaging.” It conveys the idea that the artist, in this case me, is nostalgic for a bygone era and is stuck in the past.
Artwork 2:
I had determined that my final piece of writing would “be a true expression of me” and would be “personal, imaginative, and intimate.” I chose to draw inspiration from eight various aspects of my life, which are depicted in this piece: Lockdown, Travel, Family, Traditions, Possessions, Immigration, Generations, Hobbies, and Art. My upbringing is “commemorated” in this piece. It may be seen as a celebration of my youth. The inventive and whimsical style that the vibrant colours and variety of textures provide exemplifies a “childlike experience of wonder.”
